Hello there! Welcome to issue #2 of Sean Blanda's editorial jobs extravaganza. As always, all of the jobs have been sent to me personally, and are not from any jobs board. Things you should apply to:
- NBC News is hiring. A ton. Seriously, I can't list them all here. Jobs in NYC, LA, DC, London, Miami and other places. Roles like Editor, Reporter, Multimedia Editor, Breaking News Editor, Director of Digital Newsgathering, Home Page Editor, Community Editor, Digital and Print Designer, and many many more. Interested? I'll give you the full list and (if you're nice) an inside contact if you reply to this email.
- At 99U, where I'm the managing editor, I'm looking for a steady writer to review the newest productivity apps and websites. Paid, of course. 2-4 posts a month. You should also know how WordPress works and be able to write in a smart, but accessible, tone.
There have been a lot of new subscriptions since issue #1, so below are the jobs I sent out last time:
- Industry Dive is a brand new B2B mobile-first start up created by the smart folk that founded (and later sold) Fierce Markets. The founder there tells me they are looking for freelance writers to occasionally write about industries like Food, Retail, Construction, and many more.
- If you're willing to move to the NYC or Philly area (and honestly, who wouldn't), consider this gig for Proscape. The mobile-dev company is looking to launch a completely separate technology news vertical as a content marketing arm. They want an EIC to spearhead the effort and build it from the ground up. Sounds fun.
- My good friends at Zapier are looking to assign 1-2 articles a month for business writers that like substance. Says the editor "I need writers that enjoy crafting long-form, meaty pieces (like you'd read on First Round Review or Moz) and have interest in business productivity, process and workflow."
